What the Price Covers

One payment covers the ride from the first night to the last: your room, your breakfasts, the dinners listed for that trip, the guides and ride leaders, the van, your luggage moving from hotel to hotel, and the sightseeing built into the route. The list above is the standard shape of a tour, but the detail changes from route to route, which is why every tour page carries its own What’s Included list.

The Andalucía tour, for instance, includes the Mezquita in Córdoba and the Alhambra in Granada; the Sardinia tour includes entry to selected castles and an optional wine tasting; London to Paris includes the overnight ferry from Portsmouth to Saint-Malo. Read the individual list before you compare one tour price against another, because those inclusions are usually where the difference sits.

What It Does Not Cover

Getting to the start city and home from the finish is your own arrangement, and we are not responsible for airfare or for expenses caused by a change of itinerary — the terms and conditions set that out in full. Lunches are not provided, though the van carries water and snacks and stops with them along the route. Bike rental is optional and priced separately, and anything you buy for yourself on the way is yours.

Travel insurance is not included either, and we strongly advise you to arrange it. Trip cancellation, flight delays, emergency medical treatment, lost or stolen luggage — these are the things that turn an expensive week into a very expensive one. We do not recommend any particular insurer, so read the coverage carefully and make sure the policy is valid in every country your tour passes through.

Van Support, and What It Means for Your Riding

Van Support, and What It Means for Your Riding

The support van is the reason a tour of this length is open to riders who could not carry their own luggage across a country. It moves the bags, carries the water and the snacks, holds the tools and the spares — and it will give you a lift. Each tour has a carefully determined degree of difficulty, but you can always take a shuttle in the SAG van for part of a day, or for an entire day, if you simply do not feel like riding. Some riders use it once in two weeks and some use it most afternoons, and nobody keeps score.
