Bike Rentals

If you wish to rent a bike from us, we have the following fully serviced, light, quality road/fitness bikes available:

• Fuji Absolute 2, 3, and 4, flat handlebars
• Fuji Newest 1 and 2, drop handlebars
• Fuji Roubaix 1.3, drop handlebars
• Fuji Sportif 2.1, drop handlebars

Your rental bike comes with a rear luggage rack, bungee cord, extra tube and levers, water bottle cage, pump, lock, and odometer. The price for renting a bike depends on the tour and ranges between $200 and $270.

The Fuji Absolute comes with flat handlebars, which hold you in a more upright position and keep the brake levers under your fingers at all times. It is the easier choice if most of your riding has been on a hybrid or a mountain bike. The Newest, the Roubaix and the Sportif all come with drop handlebars, which give you more hand positions over a long day and a lower position into a headwind.

Neither is harder to ride than the other — they are simply different, and the right answer is almost always whichever one resembles the bike you already own. A tour is not the week to teach your hands a new shape.

Every rental goes out fully serviced and comes with a rear luggage rack and bungee cord, a spare tube and tire levers, a water bottle cage, a pump, a lock and an odometer. That covers the day to day: you will not need to buy a rack for your bar bag or borrow a pump at the roadside. A helmet is not on that list, so bring your own — and check it still fits over whatever you plan to wear underneath it on a cold morning. Pedals and a saddle are the other two things riders most often prefer to bring from home, and both travel easily in a suitcase.

Plenty of riders bring their own, and if your bike fits you well and you are used to it, that is usually the better ride. Mechanical support is included on every tour either way: the van carries tools and spares, and a puncture or a skipping gear is not going to end your day. All we would ask is that you arrive on a bike that has been serviced recently. A tour is a poor place to find out that a chain or a cassette was already worn out when you packed it.
